We finished watching the last episode of season 3 of something from way back in the NTSC video standard days. We were curious how many more seasons there are. Are we half-way through?
Wife: (long-presses some button on her phone) “Hey Siri, how many seasons are there of (show we were watching)?”
Wife’s default-voiced Siri: “There are six seasons of (show we were watching).”
Wife: “OK, good night, Siri.”
Wife’s Siri: “No.”
Wife started laughing. We’d heard Siri push back before, but not in response to a polite phrase. So while she was still laughing, I long-pressed my iPhone’s Home button to invoke my male-voiced version of Siri.
Me: “Tell my wife’s Siri to stop being so mean.”
My Siri: “Which one?” and presents me a list of 2 of my contacts, one of which is my wife.
I say my wife’s name.
My Siri: “OK, do you want me to send it?” and it’s showing me an iMessage to my wife that says “Siri, stop being so mean.”
Me: “Send it.”
Wife’s Siri: “OK!” – which she said the INSTANT my phone made the noise that an iMessage was being sent, and before my wife’s phone made the ding that it received a message.
So… do each other’s Siri instances actually “know” that I’d suggested that one talk to the other? It sure seems so. It feels like an intentional Easter Egg sort of thing.
